Change the direction of your ceiling fan in winter and summer
Ceiling fans can spin in two opposite directions. You probably already know this, but there are, many people who still don’t know. Depending on the time of a year, you should change the direction of your ceiling fan. There are several benefits, and just one of them is energy efficiency. If you want to live green, this is a useful trick that can be done in a couple of minutes. In fact, it can be done in just one minute.
Your ceiling fan should spin clockwise during the winter. By spinning in this direction, it will pull the cold air up and force warm air down. This will keep your home warmer and it will reduce the amount of power you use. Also, your ceiling fan should spin slowly. Remember that this direction is reverse.
During the summer months, your ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise. When they spin in this direction, fan blades will force the warm air down. This will create a windchill effect. Simply said, your room will be much cooler but you won’t use additional energy in order to achieve this.
In order to change the direction of your ceiling fan, all you need to do is to flip a switch.
1. Turn off your ceiling fan. Do not skip this step. You should use a wall switch or by pulling the right chain.
2. You will see a switch that changes the direction of a ceiling fan. Click it in the opposite direction and you are done.
This is a simple trick that is very useful, so there is no reason why you shouldn’t use it.
