Foam vs. wood crown molding
One of the best improvements you can do to your ceiling is crown molding. You can choose between wood and foam moldings. Both of them have pros and cons. Foam or wood crown molding add that decorative style and they can décor a room. You can stain or paint them in a contrasting color or paint them in simple white. Depending on what your desire is, you should choose between foam or wood crown molding.
This type of molding is very easy to install. You will need only several tools. A good side is that you don’t need a professional, you can install it yourself, but you must know a thing or two about working on the house. Also, this is a better option if you are working on a budget. It is affordable and installation (if you want to hire a professional) is cheaper. Another benefit is that foam moldings can bend and work great around different curvatures. On the other side, foam moldings aren’t a good choice for texture ceiling. Simply said, they don’t sit well against it. Foam molding doesn’t look nice as wood molding as well.
If you want to have that traditional touch, wood molding is the only option. You can choose between many different styles and sizes. Also, you can choose between different types of wood. All of them look nice if you pair them with the rest of the ceiling and the rest of a room. It can be stained, unlike foam moldings. A good side is that you can use them on any type of ceiling material. This includes texture ceiling. A drawback is, it is hard to install.
